2018 Board Nominations – I2SL Windy City Chapter

The Windy City Chapter of I2SL is soliciting nominations for President and Vice President board positions. Nominations Due May 1.

If you are interested in a fun collegial challenge that will make a difference in lab sustainability in our region, please fill out the form below with your name and contact information along with which position you are interested in standing for in the election. The deadline for responding with nominations is May 1.

Elected officers must be members in good standing of I2SL National; any non-member nominees standing for election must join the group before taking office. Membership may be obtained through the website: http://www.i2sl.org/globalcommunity/becomemember.html .  Anyone can nominate an officer. You must  be an I2SL member to vote in the upcoming election.

Positions:

President: Term of two years. Position includes chairing and participating in Board meetings, speaking on behalf of the organization, breaking the tie in the event of a voting stalemate, and other duties as necessary.

Vice President: Term of two years. Position includes chairing Board meetings in the absence of the President, participating in Board meetings, speaking on behalf of the organization in the absence of the President, and other duties as necessary.

The position of Treasurer and Secretary will not be elected this year.

The position of Member-at-Large can also be nominated. Duties of this position are determined by the board and will vary according to the interests/strengths of the Members-at-Large.

Dates:
Deadline for nominations is May 1
The slate of candidates will be announced on May 15, when voting begins. Voting will end June 10.
New officers will be introduced at the June 14 meeting

2018 I2SL Conference Scholarship Application

I2SL’s Windy City Chapter is giving one student scholarship to attend the 2018 I2SL Annual Conference in Raleigh, NC, October 14 through 17, 2018.

The scholarship will cover the costs of conference registration (not including workshops or tours), airfare, hotel, and a one-year I2SL membership. Hotel/airfare reimbursement will be provided for the actual verified amount expended, up to $1,100; the Windy City Chapter will arrange directly for the recipient’s conference registration and I2SL student membership. The scholarship does not include reimbursement for meals (though the continental breakfast and lunch served during the event are included in the registration fee), parking, or optional events.

The scholarship is open to any full-time undergraduate or graduate college student living in or attending a college or university in the state of Illinois and selected nearby states (WI, IA, IN, MI, OH). The winning student will be required to attend at least two days of the three-day event.

Deadline for applications is Wednesday, August 1, 2018. The winner will be selected by the Windy City Board of Directors, based on answers to the questions in the application.

Lights and Power Management for Sustainable Labs

Thursday, March 22, 2018, 3 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Join leaders in design and engineering for an illuminating evening focused on making laboratory lighting more usable, energy efficient and sustainable. And top off the evening with a tour of the incredible Advanced Photon Source (APS)!

Two AIA credits or Continuing Educational Units available.

Note: ANL has strict security procedures.
Attendees must provide valid identification, i.e. Drivers License, State Id or Passport.
Please use your full name as it appears on your identification during Registration.
Please indicate if you are a US Citizen or Foreign National on the Additional Information – Order Notes field.
All attendees must be approved by ANL before the event. Additional vetting is performed on foreign nationals. Access is not guaranteed. Notifying ANL as early as possible gives foreign nationals the best chance of receiving access. On the day of the event, any non-citizen who arrives at ANL without prior approval to attend will be denied access at the gate and will not be able to attend the event. Once your name has been approved by ANL, you will receive a welcome email from Argonne with additional information.
